Getting things together

Just a quick update,
I have some sleep issues, but most of my earlier health problems are manageable or gone now. (Hopefully it stays that way). Some new problems here and there, but I think I worry too much these days since I spent the last like 6 years wondering if I would ever even have a normal life again.

I haven't really been working on anything for a while. I've mostly been focusing on adjusting my diet, exercising, cleaning my house, and in general just getting a lot of things under control. Things got way out of hand over the years due to my health problems, so I'm making an effort to try and make my living conditions better in general.

I'm not sure when I'll be getting back to working on things. Probably a couple weeks at least. Once I do may actually start with some streams working on Lufuclad, since I've had the urge to work on it a bit lately. Kurovadis is still a bit of a question mark in my head. I'm still not sure how much I want to fix it up. Noaika still seems so far of given how much I still need to do in it. Obviously it's a mess having so many projects in the way that I think I "need" to do (which I don't), like Kurovadis. These days I don't have too many money issues, since Eroico has stayed very consistent, though it's hard to kick the feeling that I need to publish it in some form that is equal to Eroico at least.

Anyhow, that's all for now.

  1. I can't wait for the streams, watching other artists and devs work is always super interesting!

Also the difference in those screenshots is like day and night, I wasn't expecting such a big difference. Now it's more of a definitive edition than just "reworking it a little".

  2. Health first, always. It's amazing how much diet alone can improve things, we don't realize how many of the things we eat are actually poison. Often it's things we wouldn't suspect, like wheat or spinach.

Financially speaking, releasing an improved Kurovadis on Steam would probably be a decent move since the game is actually done and any improvement is just polish. Releasing it with minor work would yield a lot of money for little effort, and releasing it with a lot of polish would increase sales and inspire confidence in future games, so there's no wrong answer here.

Given how much work you've put into Noaika, though, it's going to have to be released eventually. It would be such a waste to let it rot away.

  3. WOW...just WOW...i did expect much changes for the visuals, but this is something else. I hope that now people who said that the game was fine as it is will understand why people voted for renewal of everything. doesn't look like 100 times more appealing?

+ as you can see he doesn't forget about health so I don't think that we need to worry about him overworking

P.S. do you already have a channel there you will stream?

  4. Wow, those new visuals look great! That said, you should definitely focus on your health first. I'm sure the game will be great in time, but your personal well-being should take priority.

  7. Happy to hear your doing better overall health/lifestyle wise. The games can wait.

    Thanks for the update.

  9. Everything that you've put out so far, regardless whether it was finished or very rough has been oozing quality so far and hits that very special niche where you can tell a person put care into their work. (re)releasing kurovadis on steam would be much welcomed but at this point i will shill you even if you put out trash, so please keep people like me in mind and just have fun with what you do :)

  10. Glad to read you're much more stable now, and you're working on your health. Health always comes first.

Kurovadis(as memory stands) was a great game, and I think it stands well enough on its own. Lufuclad is still pretty early in development it seems, I'd look most forward to development on that front(tho I understand why you paused on it).

Noaika seems like it's the closest thing to completion, which is encouraging. Despite my interests, I think attacking Noaika would be best imo. Cheers, and good luck.

Heads up, can't buy Kurovadis from your store.

  11. I'm a bit late to comment, I know, but I'm very excited, hoping to see Kurovadis on steam. I really enjoyed the Demo when I played it, but didn't buy the full version since I didn't really understand the site it was sold on. I would definitely buy Kurovadis very quickly if it popped up on Steam, as I greatly preferred it to Eroico.

  12. I'm glad you are getting better!
I am excited to see things like LufuClad getting updated more! (:

  13. Nothing to report yet, Kyrieru-san? The idea of "re-working" Kurovadis is a good idea and both Lufuclad and Noaika look like good games, too. I hope to see how these projects turn out in the end.

Just check their twitter and you'd see that Kyrieru was last seen very much alive 7 days ago.

    2. None of his Twitter posts have any relation to Kurovadis at all. For all we know he literally could have not touched it since this last update. For something that, at one point, was stated to likely only take about a month, it's a bit disappointing.

      Delete
    3. I'm a bit miffed that he hasn't given any updates in a while either, but ya don't gotta be rude about it. And when was that month estimate given? Before or after the vote to overhaul the combat and animations? Because that stuff will take a while.

      Delete
  16. now I ain't saying things don't take time , I'm sure you're doing great work remastering this game , but there hasn't been an update and I'm low key scared you're going on hiatus again because you get side tracked on multiple projects.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm actually wondering the same thing as the guy above me, it's been nearly five months without an update and I really wish I knew where the progress of this Kurovadis revamp is at. Hope you can eventually spare the time to update us all on an exciting new version for Kurovadis.

According to Twitter posts from February, Kyrieru has been toying with 3D stuff. Mostly plants, by the looks of it.

I may be overly optimistic but I'm still hoping for a Kurovadis release and maybe even an eventual Noaika release.

  22. I bought Kurovadis many years ago. It was a really fun game, so I'm excited to see where this goes.

    1. It appears so, but Kyrieru is sort of active on Twitter, even though his last post was on March

    2. Honestly, he does this quite a bit. He says he will post or is close to being done with a game and then disappears off the face of the planet. Then he pops up out of nowhere again.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, it's just Kyrieru being Kyrieru. In a way that's more healthier than responding to everything nonstop, but a little "I'm alive" every 3 or 6 months would be welcome

    1. This post is almost a year old so that's pretty compelling evidence. Maybe he did retire. Or, god forbid, maybe he died. He was complaining about an undisclosed health issue.

    3. golwas, if he "died" almost a year ago, then who is running his tweeter? xD

It's not uncommon for Kyrieru to disappear for a long time, only posting random stuff every few months on tweeter and once there is something to report about games here.
Any news to debunk rumors would be appreciated tho' that's for sure

      Delete
    2. Let's be honest here. It's been a year since he's interacted with this site in any way, and five months since his last Tweet. More than likely, he's abandoned making games in general, and just hasn't announced it to avoid having people demand their money back. It sucks, but that's probably the real truth.

    3. This is like the third or fourth time he disappeared for over a year with no word or trace.

  29. Ok it's formal I think he died or at least that's what it seems with so many health problems he has or had.

  30. This happens all the time, the phrase "Kyrieru is dead" is a meme, I believe he'll be back but I don't think he'll ever finish another game in his lifetime at this rate.

    1. I don't think he's ever vanished for over a year without so much as a peep before.

I want to believe that he's just been working silently while enjoying a new, fulfilling, healthy life, and that he'll come back any month now with a new build of lufuclad where you can manipulate seperate tribes of monstergirls into big lesbian rape wars.
But realisitically, he probably decided to take a break from game dev, or has spontaneously dropped dead.

  40. I can't take this anymore. Under penalty of being banned, since kyrieru never cleared it I'm just gonna go ahead and say I had email correspondence with them some months ago. It was some time after their most recent post (ie this one ^ ). I'll have to find it later to get an exact date and time for you all. This doesn't mean some sort of tragedy hasn't happened since then, but it does mean they were at least alive at the time I wrote them... I hope they are still okay.

    ReplyDelete
  41. How long exactly? Kyrieru's last post on Twitter, which as far as I know is the last trace we have, was in late March, which would make it about seven and a half months ago.

It's... kind of normal to not get any news for months at a time, but this is abnormally long and with this disease running around, and Kyrieru's operations for chronic health issues, it's easy to assume the worst.

    2. It's easy to miss, but Kyrieru's newest Tweet actually dates back to June 16th. Since it's a reply, it isn't listed in the main feed. And in the Tweet before that, from June 12th, they do give some small insight into their current situation. As far as I can tell, their general health does seem to have improved slightly, but there have been a lot of new problems on other fronts, so they are currently trying to adjust in response to that.

Kyrieru, if you are reading this: Sorry for plowing through your social media like a headhunter. I wish you all the best and most importantly the power and confidence needed for the challenges you are currently facing. From what I've gathered things seem to suck a lot right now, but I believe in you and your ability to find solutions for whatever problems are obstructing your path. You're a programmer and game designer after all, one of the most constructive, creative and persistant kind of people I know. Don't lose faith, hurdles and roadblocks fear people like you. You got this.

  45. To Anonymous: Thank you for sharing! I'd not have seen that if it weren't for you.

To Kyrieru: Thanks a ton as well for your update on Twitter! Continued wishes for strength, endurance and positive thoughts in your battle against the resilient demons a mind can produce. They can suck and usually they do, a lot, as mundane as they might appear. They can be clingy and noisy and hurtful. But also, they always can be shown their place. It might take a few tries and tricks, but it's certainly possible. And I'm positve you'll show them.

If the litter of anonymouses creepily breathing onto the other site of your (digital) window and overanalyzing every social media post of the last year while most certainly donning a pair of glasses and a lab coat while doing so should tell you anything, it's that there are people thinking about you. (And that my ability to write short and understandable sentences is in a similar plane of existence as Schrödinger's cat.) In other words, you're not alone in this. And with a little luck these thoughts might even butterfly-effect themselves as positive influences into your life, who knows? (Possibly deterministic universe, yadayada...)

One thing, before I'll end my annoying rambling: If you feel that the time away from your blog and social media has been to the benefit of your (mental) health, of course, continue to invest your attention into things that do you more good. While a life sign once in a while surely would be much appreciated, you don't owe anybody here and shouldn't feel pressured into doing anything you're not feeling up to.

On the contrary however, if you have the urge to write anything, don't stop yourself with any thoughts of having to show some work beforehand. It might be due to the inherent ambiguity of written text, but your latest tweet reads a little like you're hesitant to communicate before you can present anything in relation to your development projects. While this is just one interpretation and I may as well be totally wrong, I nevertheless feel the need to stress that you are not the worth of your work and go beyond that. The people that flock around your online presences may be, at least partially, a bunch of strangers and initially gathered around you because of the stuff you make and the news you share about it. But that doesn't mean the interest and care of us is limited to just that or that development updates are everything that you are "allowed" to share. Sometimes telling a story to strangers even can have it's benefits, exactly because they don't know you - you may benefit from their different perspective and inputs, but also from the distance to the real person "you" behind the keybord, unlike a relative or friend in real life.

If you wish to tell about your latest contact with some piece of media, do that. If you want to rant about some crappy game design you encountered somewhere, do that. If you'd like to get some real life experiences, frustrations or successes, off your chest, do that. If you just want to post a scribble of a flying garlic with giant ears (for some reason i can't imagine right now), do that. Whatever makes you happy. There's no prerequisitive to that. None. You might view this as detour in a development blog or the like, but if it makes your day a better one, it's definitely a detour worth taking.

So, basically, if you're feeling very motivated right now to tell me to finally shut up and gtfo, go with that flow and don't worry about anything else for now. ;)

Maybe the quest was finished successfully, or it has put on hold to save humanity from the heroine's failure. We pray that our lord Kyrieru will give us answers soon, for now, let us gather and pray.
