Status update

Kurovadis has been on sale for about two days now, and things were pretty hectic for a while. I spent the majority of my time reading comments (from everywhere), fixing bugs, responding to emails, and getting the game ready for DLsite. However, all in all things are going pretty smoothly.

I'm going to hold off on sales figures for now, but I will say that I've made enough to do the next game full time, though just barely. Sales have begun to slow down after the initial release, so hopefully DLsite will help me reach the 1000 mark once it's released. However, the important thing is that I can begin working on the next game, and I have all of you to thank for it.

Also, a big thanks to anybody who donated, I really appreciate it.

The Next Game
Since I don't know for certain how much time I'm going to have to work on the game, I can't really plan it out yet. So instead, I'm currently working on creating a sort of template for myself. That is, things that will be in every game from here on out regardless of what kind of game it is. The goal is to have a sort of standardized toolset to work with each time in order to reduce the development time. Things such as,

-An option screen that saves config settings in a file separate from saved games. Settings like screen modes, volume controls, etc.
-A CG gallery.
-Multiple Save Slots.
-Transitions, screen effects, etc.
-Dialog system (that can be easily manipulated for any game or situation)
-Cutscene system.

And just in general, coming up with a standard way of doing things.

As for what kind of game it will be, I'm quite certain that it's going to be linear this time around. I'd like to further optimize the way I do everything before attempting something like an action RPG with quests and complicated mechanics. However, there are a few things I plan on doing regardless of what kind of game it turns into.

-Higher res sprites
-A story.
-In-game dialog during H animations,
-Voice

And of course, I'm going to plan the whole thing out before I start. More than anything, I want the final result to be as polished as possible.

Anyhow, that's about it for now. Back to work..

  3. You make it sound big. Like you're developing your own game maker program.

  4. Don't forget to practice drawing CGs. You have alot of room for improvement.

    1. I think his Cg's are just fine, besides I care for sprite work over the cg in these h-games :D.

    2. I think his sprite work is better than his CGs, just as what offers the best enjoyment. If he could master doing scenes with it, it'd sell.

    3. The sprite work is excellent, but the CGs are important too. There were a few horrible spots on some of the CGs in Kurovadis. I just hope he gets a bit better at making them for the next game.

  5. I look forward to whatever you release in the future as I am really enjoying Kurovadis, probably early to suggest this but it would be great if future games had more yuri and/or futa in them.

  6. Is there anyway to have a scene viewer mode in kurovadis? Viewing rape animations is really inconvenient in this game.

    1. Well how I do it is make rename save files for different enemy areas including before boss battles. So if I want to see a specific animation I just load that save and press H when I'm next to the correct enemy. A little inconvenient but only takes about a minute or 2 tops.

Sounds good if you can make things easier on you all the better. I'm expecting great things from you and I know you won't let us down.

    1. Get a winrar or 7zip and unpack it (copy the contents of the .rar to some directory).

  9. Been browsing some Japanese boards and it seems you've drummed up a bit of a following over there. Kudos!

    3. Also wanted to add that D-gate/Camel has promoted the game on his blog. I don't think too many people here would know of him but he's been both head and influence to a number of smaller games. Typically vore related though if that's not your thing.

how did you put a game on dlsite japanese? i thought only ones who got japanese bank account could do that... did you know someone or is there other way for them pay you?

    1. When you upload a product to Curious factory, you can choose to have it appear on the japanese DLsite. You get paid via paypal.

  11. What is the latest version of the game? I have the mediafire link for V4 saved, but it still seems to have the futa magician bug in it. Didn't that get fixed?

    1. The latest is V5. As for the futa bug, I've yet to see it, myself.

    2. Oh, well, I don't have the link for V5. It seems I misunderstood what you said about "saving" the link, as I saved the wrong one. I'll email you with my paypal account name to show who I am.

  12. Glad to know that the goal is almost reached.

Having twelwe years of software engineering behind me I strongly encourage you to build your own toolset/template. Only, do not think too much about it, trying to figure out every use case... but probably you already know it, since you really have the knack for this.

    I'll be waiting.

  13. Looks like you reached #1 for top sales of the day. Granted that position may change by the time you read this but that's still quite a feat.

  15. Good luck on your next game. Are you going to stick with the enemies damage on touch plan from before?

    Replies
    1. Yes, chances are it's going to be a much more traditional platformer. It will have more content than Kurovadis, though.

    2. Well, I think you can come up with a game that is both sexy and fun. Hopefully the two don't interfere with each other.

  16. it is a awesome game dood and with this hit i have to ask what is the next one gonna be about? (like the style and setting) and since you brought it up, are you going to finish kurovadis?

    1. oops i meant Crimson Brave not kurovadis XD

      Delete
    2. No, a game like Crimson Brave won't come until later. I'd like to do something simpler and more polished first, focusing on setting myself a standard in terms of production quality before trying a game with more rpg/adventure aspects.

As for style and setting, I'm not really sure yet. Though I know the graphics will be much higher res than Kurovadis, and will have more realistic proportions. It will be a fantasy setting for sure, though, since I want to do something different from Kurovadis.

    3. maybe it will be a sequel to kirovadis or more of a monster setting? (just giving ideas) and it is good how it looks right now (to me lol) but i am wondering what is up your sleeve lol, if i can help with ideas/testing i will be glad to help ^,..,^ but if you do let me help i am using a friends comp so i can only get on at nights lol

  17. Now this is the boring part, working on creating the engine, not the game.
It is needed and I say it's a good idea to do this.

    Thank,
    CarpD (^_^)

  18. Please do not hire voice actors. I swear to god most of them always seem to flake, thus pushing the deadline back on games because they didn't do their part or don't contribute things for months. Maybe some nice premade voices would do. Most of the voice actors I met make me feel like i'm talking to a bowl of frosted flakes.

    1. Don't hire voice actors unless they are all Patrick Seitz. EVEN THE WOMEN.

  19. You should have 3 heroins to select. Loli- middle aged - older
It would also would be really cool to be able to customize weapons. Any game that lets you customize sells like crazy. But if you just make games that are set in stone then people who buy your games will be set in stone.
