I was the guy who asked when you were doing more streams in the first place, and I was one of the ones who missed it, so this is great, hahah! X'D

    Thanks again! :)

  2. Hey kyrieru its me the 3 question guy i don't know weather you still remember me or not but meh here are my questions:
    1. How are you? Just checking weather you ok or not D:
    2. Who will be the next character in your weekly animation? I have already seen 3 of your latest animation, nice work btw :D
    3. Is Noaika gonna be a big project like bigger than your other games? If so will you release a demo? Woops extra question there :D

    1. 1. Can't complain.
      2. Curly Brace is next. After that it will be whoever wins the next vote.
      3. Noaika is way bigger than my previous games. The demo of the game will have more content than the full version of either of them. I will upload an updated demo at some point.

      Delete
    2. And what's about the new game which will have the size of Eroico?

      Delete
    3. Not sure which you're talking about. There is no other game with the size of Eroico.

      Delete
    4. Is the sprite you worked on in the stream going to be put into something bigger, or was it just concept art?

      Delete
    5. Nah. It was originally going to be a part of a tutorial, but I don't think that it's a very good example for what I was going to make -___-

      Delete
    6. Maybe you should still link it among the tutorials, or link your youtube channel or something so it doesn't get lost few weeks down the line. It's a good material, even if not a part of the "main series" of tutorials :D

    7. It's the patreon game i meant.

      Delete
    8. Oh, that. There aren't really any concrete plans for that yet. However I don't think it would be as low res as Eroico.

  3. Thanks a ton for uploading the stream! :)

  4. You actually uploaded it! I'm sure everyone would like to see more streams in the future. Maybe you could do some of the work on naoika while streaming too? Non-spoilerish stuff of course

  5. Jiggly hat and sleeve physics ftw. It's the details :3

  6. Can I make a request? I'd really love to see how you handle doing background panoramas and/or background tiles

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yeah, I plan on doing a stream for tilesets and backgrounds at some point.

      Delete
  7. That was fucking incredible.

  8. do you always make a bigger model and then make the little one?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No. You may not see from the way I edited it, but in the stream I initially draw the whole sprite bigger, but decided it was way too big. Thats what you're seeing when you see flashes of a larger character.

  10. Hey Kyrieru,

Was this done in the Game Maker editor? You kind of-sort of mentioned you liked Aseprite awhile ago. What're you thoughts on it now?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wow this was pretty inspiring, I've been thinking of making my own Ero game for a while now and I think this just pushed me to do it! I've already got something in mind but I'll definitely be referencing your older blog post about the process.

    Thanks!

  12. How is the animation player doing Kyrieru? Can't wait for the sound :D

And if someone adds a comment about how it should have been done already or something, I will cut them :)

  13. Hey Kyrieru, off-topic place to ask, but...
I was thinking of making H-games to sell on DLSite, but I'm looking at their terms now...It looks like they take a 70% cut on a $10 game?! Am I reading this correctly? That's more than double the industry standard, right?!

If you could clarify this for me, that'd be awesome. Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There isn't much competition for DLSite as far as japanese digital distributors goes, and working with them will expose you to a massive Asian market that would be difficult to dip into otherwise. And English DLSite is more for bringing Japanese games to the American and European market since regular DLSite doesn't accept many American/European payment methods, so it's not really for American products.

If you approach DLSite as your ONLY means of distribution, you'll definitely lose your ass, but if you sell it to a non-Japanese market on your own or through an alternitave means and ADDITIONALLY through DLSite, then that's a supplementary income for the same game (besides censorship) in a broader foreign market, which can be very lucrative.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the advice, anon. Any good alternatives you can think of for DLSite?

What the fuck? So the translation half of the company is scummily skimming another 10% off the top on top of it all? This is pretty discouraging...

  16. I really don't mean to be a dick, but it's going to come off this way since I can't find a polite way to ask, so I apologize ahead of time...

What's the business plan on this, exactly? You took preorders for this game several months ago to help you afford bills while you worked on the game, several months later you show less and less of your progress you took preorders for with very little in terms of ETA (granted, lack of ETA is expected from you). Is this going to be a standard when waiting on a Kyrieru game? Pre-order after waiting several months, then wait several months more? Even the professional industry only takes pre-orders a few months ahead of time.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you did pre-order, you should have known you were doing it strictly for the purpose of supporting the games progress.

"To clarify, there is no benefit to pre-ordering other than supporting the game's development. There will not be exclusive versions or content. (Before the game is released I'll also be retroactively giving the code to anybody who has donated in the past.)"

      Delete
    2. I believe Kyrieru said that he is going to give pre-orders the next game for free since he is taking so long on completing Noaika as well as not making any of his games pre-orderable again.

Kyrieru makes high-quality games and I'm willing to wait to play them. It is still slightly frustrating to not hear anything from him in so long, but I expect by it now. Eh.

      Delete
    3. Seriously dude, he offered anyone who per-ordered their money back if they weren't happy with the wait.

I put together a small bug filled platformer myself, and know the hardships that come with making a game, even if it's simple.

I per-ordered, and I'm not worried about when it will be released. I knew very well that Ky is not one of the most organized people, and was bound to take a "while".

      Delete
    4. Pre-ordering games besides wanting to support developers is pointless anyways (unless you get some collectors edition with limited physical goodies you want or something). This wait is completely normal and not too long, things considered. If you literally don't know what H-games to play while waiting, go play Sengoku Rance, that should keep you occupied for a millennium or two :D

      Delete
    5. Pull your preorder if you haven't already. And don't expect anything from him. Kyrieru himself knows that he sets expectations very high to the point where he has raised the bar to himself too high and isn't satisfied with anything. Look at the Noakia demo. He has apparently scrapped the sprites from the demo. There were what, 4 H-animations in there? Add 6 more animations, some CGs, and three more levels (so two more tilesets) and he would have had a complete game to sell. Instead, now its apparently high pixel count and whatever, but people would have been fine with him releasing what was in the demo.

Also all these people saying "blah blah I expect this from him" you really shouldn't be letting devs off the hook for sloppy behavior. Understandable? Sure. But don't claim that this is should be expected or is fine.

      Delete
    6. Meh, I'm not really hung up on losing a $5 to him. Especially since I never paid for Kurovadis and Eroico.

That being said, I really don't think he'll skip out on Noaika, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was his last h-game.

      Delete
    7. Did you see the updated sprites though? That shit is too hype to pass up. And for the record it's been well over a year since preorders happened. But honestly if you're sweating five dollars then porn games shouldn't be your priority anyway.

I imagine we'll see the demo within a month.

    8. Holy fucking Christ, people. I simply asked about the business plan and management of this project. I don't know where the rest of this came from. From a financial standing, this doesn't seem sustainable at all. Even with the Patreon funds. I don't care about your pre-orders, my pre-orders, your five bucks, nor sprite changes, other H-games, etc. I don't know why all of you felt compelled to answer with anything that had nothing to do with the original question.

      Delete
    9. @Djinbu

While I can only speak for myself, I'm pretty sure everyone here was not trying to be snarky/angry with you.

We were just pointing out that there is no real ETA on the game, and we don't have any expectations for Ky to get it out in a predetermined time frame.

It's kind of obvious by now that he has no "business plan", and is doing things more on whim than anything.

      Delete
    10. No business plan? Did he not accept pre-orders to help him pay his bills and survive while he made the game? There has to be some sort of business plan.

  17. Wish people would be a little more calm about 'disappearances', especially considering how brief your posting absences are compared to other devs...I mean, other than things like voice clips, as far as I can tell, these games are pretty much a one-man operation.
Ignoring that, the sort of constant communication with a hungry fanbase that's been the norm for a long time now can be pretty draining. Info can come when it comes, no loss for anyone involved besides a few people getting way too worked up by the lack of instant gratification.

Godly work Ky, all things considered. We're looking forward to the day that everything comes together. Take care, guy.

    1. His periods of silence aren't really that long, alright. The issue here is bullshitting people. On top of the page we can see a tab called "Weekly Animations" and Kyrieru promised to do them WEEKLY. And what do we have? Literally nothing - no progress, no contact, even no more excuses.

      Delete
    2. They were weekly before the hiatus.

    3. At this point the man could take a dump on a plate and people would still defend him. I've kinda just stopped caring at this point.

      Delete
    4. its almost like he gets paid on completion so him being late has no effect on anyone whatsoever.

      huh.

      Delete
    5. Can't deny that he over-promises on stuff, but...yea, that's still really not affecting anyone.
When people look up to you, it's easy to give in to the pressure of success and want to give them more, live up to the image somewhat, whether trying to do so is a good idea or not. Personally, I'd rather have the current circumstances, over dealing with the types of devs that make absolutely no special effort regarding their work or their community and still expect the best treatment.

At least he's been open about criticism.

      Delete
  18. the dude makes good games, and if those good games are totally miniature compared to the new one, I don't really care about waiting periods. Mainstream games of lower quality have taken longer to develop with more people.

  20. What is up with hentai platformer developers and following their own schedule? Kyrieru and developers of Future Fragments both suck at following what they said they'll do at a specific time. Maybe FF devs are worse. Kyrieru doesn't have a weekly bullshit excuse like them.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is my top priority hentai game. More than Malise and the Machine, more than Project X, hell even more than a brand new Cherry Poi game... Hmm...

Only thing that could MAYBE match it is Future Fragments or Divine Arms. C'mon Ky, get shit done!

  24. Hey, KY. Why don't you just rise the price for the game, hire some programmers to help you? It would be much faster than it is now, wich it really disappointing. It has been 2 years since you announce Noaika. I think most of the people here agreed to pay bigger price for faster development.

    1. He's got too much of an eye for perfection and wants things done his own way all the time. He just won't do it; his art is his baby.

    2. I remember that he tell something that he need "HIS OWN CODE"
so he can use the code as "HIS FRAMEWORK" for his another game.

  25. What Djinbu said. Quality as his stuff is, Ky would probably fail hard working with others due to the eccentric and obsessive eye he has for his own work both critique-wise and demanding. I doubt anything a hired programmer would do for him would pass muster or even inspire anything of quality.

Some people are just a one-man show by nature. Can't be helped.

    3. Common within artistic work. People are often a lot harder on their own stuff than the work of others. If anything, soloing this is probably more because he wants to be familiar with what makes the game tick so he can maintain control/use things in the future, rather than demanding perfection of everyone.

If you want a good platformer to hold you over, it doesn't have H content, but go check out AM2R. Remake of Metroid 2. Not entirely complete yet, but it's pretty fun regardless.
