You can Pre-order Noaika if you want to -__-

Well, since getting a bank loan probably isn't going to happen, and because plenty of people seem willing, I've decided to make Noaika available for pre-order. You can buy the unlock code now, essentially as a means of donating, and it will work with the game once its released.

To clarify, there is no benefit to pre-ordering other than supporting the game's development. There will not be exclusive versions or content. (Before the game is released I'll also be retroactively giving the code to anybody who has donated in the past.)

Pre-orders are closed, thank you to those of who who did! (or were about to right now -__-)

A huge thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered or donated thus far, you've been a big help. Seriously people, you are all awesome. (And don't worry, I read all your feedback and support, even paypal messages in other languages ^_^

Noaika(仮)はまだ完成しておりません!

    1. Oh, thanks! Specifically I just need to make sure the red message is in japanese.

I essentially need "The game is not complete! This is just a preorder.", or something to that effect. I don't think I need to whole explanation in Japanese.

    2. No problem. I thought it would be good to have the whole post in Japanese, but eh......

"注意: これは事前注文です! Noaika(仮)はまだ完成しておりません!" is the part you're looking for.

Oh well. There's always the donate button, though I guess that'll be a bit more work on your end to push the codes out in the end...

(And although you probably already got this: When emailing a bunch of supporters, prefer BCC / individual mail - I imagine many supporters wouldn't want their paypal e-mail address broadcast to all other supporters via a huge visible CC: list...)

Indeed, I just confirmed that it's working now...

...by throwing another 20 at it.

Considering that I paid so little for Kurovadis and Eroico, I'm now averaging 20 per game, which I feel is fair. These are tiny games, but the quality is excellent.

If you were on the fence about buying or waiting to pirate it later, now's the chance to do the right thing and put the money to good use, because he's a great game maker, and honest-to-goodness great guy, and he could really use the money. You're not ripping off $5 from some hot-shot millionaire or taking from a shady game studio who's fucking him out of it anyways, every dollar counts. Let's keep the warm food in his belly, and as always,

    Keep Ky Happy.

  16. Hi Ky and all you fans out there!
I'm so glad that you're fine on the health state, given all the posts in other comment sections here. Even if there are problems with money. But as I read this post of yours, I think they will be resolved slowly but surely.

Therefore I gladly announce arriving reinforcements to reduce problems with insufficient founds! Donated as much as I could to support your outstanding work – also your good and high ambitions and standards – with everything I could effort at the moment, because currently I have a shortage too. As soon as this issue resolves at my end, I think I might be able to add some extra donations, which should also support you in multiple ways.

Even if you might need to make smaller games for your upkeep, please keep your high standards up. They are one of your trademarks, that make your games more then special.
Keep up the good work, the smile on your face, the happiness in your heart and stay healthy. ^^

Best regards and many good wishes!

  19. Everyone, before you spend money to support game development, be sure to remember that it is indeed a pre-order, and ask yourself if you're really sure you want to do this. If Kyrieru *does* end up dying in a gutter before the game is released, that's money that won't be coming back.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There will probably be an option to disable hentai elements.

As for an all ages version...I don't know. I feel like after it's done it might be able to stand on it's own without hentai, but I'm hesitant to make it available like that because of the negative attention I might get if I sold in on a non-hentai site..

      Delete
    2. Alright, good to know~

What do you mean with "negative attention" you mean that it will get hated on just for the fact that the original is all pervy and stuff?

      Delete
    3. I think people who are used to hentai kind of underestimate how serious people get over rape in fantasy.

If the all-ages version found even moderate success, once mainstream audiences realized that there was "an indie game with rape" I don't think it would go over well. The only reason why nobody cares is because barely anybody knows about games like mine, and they certainly aren't sold in the same section as normal games.

I think...if I ever released an all-ages version of a game with rape, or tried to advertise a game with rape, I'd have to make it so good, and so artistically sound in every regard that it wouldn't be an easy target for self righteous idiots. I'd also try and hide some sort of message beneath the surface about freedom of expression, and sexually in media, so that it might have at least some positive effect.

      Or something.

      Delete
    4. Hm, it makes sense when you say it like that.

Thinking back to that interview you had a while ago...

I'd argue that bad press might be good for sales but the negative backlash will certainly be annoying to deal with.

      Delete
    5. That is a serious issue around adult games. The media is more than welcome to violent and gory games like GTA and Call of Duty however sex games are looked down because they propote objectification of women bla blah blah. If that were true then I guess playing GTA makes you a hitrunner druglord and playing Cooking mama will turn you into a chef. People can't seem to distinguish the line between realist an fictional games.

      Delete
    6. One of the problems is that unlike violence in videogames, sexuality is incorrectly viewed as fantasy as opposed to...well, "fantasy"

The thing is, there's a huge difference between fantasizing about owning a nice house, and imagining what it would be like to fight a dragon. The difference is that one is something we want to happen, and the other is a non-reality we merely want to experience in some form or another, as opposed to something we actually want to happen. (I'd rather not fight a dragon)

    7. Tripoteur VentripotentOctober 28, 2014 at 7:16 PM

That's a really good point, and I had never fully realized the risks involved in releasing a "sex game" into the mainstream. Additionally, there's been a lot of criticism of video games recently, specifically with regards to misogyny. Most of it is nonsense, but I can't imagine the kind of heat that could come down on you if the media decided to target actual "hentai" games, and specifically yours, which is much, much more likely if you're one of the first to breach the wall between "hentai" games and "regular" games.

However, the media heavily discriminates against males. They'll rush to write a story if a female is the victim but don't seem to take female-on-male rape seriously or even acknowledge that it exists. So perhaps Eroico would allow a smoother transition? If you say "See, I control this female character and can make it so she gets raped", you'll be hanged, but if you say "When one of these monster girls beats this dude up, she sexually assaults him" people will just roll their eyes and call you a weirdo.

Yes, I think the content itself is the issue. Because honestly, self-righteous idiots will find ways to criticize your games no matter how artistic they are. A woman recently said in a video that a game encouraged players to murder strippers, and everyone ate it up and got all outraged despite the fact that the game actually penalizes you for killing the strippers or even interacting with them in any way. The only way to avoid undesirable attention is to focus on content that they don't care about, and "fortunately", males being raped by females is something that no one gives a damn about; as far as the media is concerned it's just not shocking and outrageous enough to be interesting.

I feel your pain where freedom of expression and sexuality in the media are concerned, but... progress has been terribly slow on that front. We're not there yet.

      Delete
    8. Most people also generally fail to consider how the widespread normalization of drunk sex facilitates rape more than all of these games combined.

I would say that if you try to make your way into the "normal" indie scene, you do so under another pseudonym and hope people don't make the connection. Though, sometimes people invested in internet culture can be more forgiving, just as long as you don't get Flappy Bird famous. I've been seeing more artists on tumblr in particular who are quite open about drawing porn and linking to their adult blogs from their main page. It really just depends on how you draw and keep your community contained.

However, your games do have the potential to gain much more popularity in the hentai community as well. Since you are one of the (dismally) few English-speaking game producers, you have a near monopoly in this region; with the potential to rival Fenoxo and konashion. I'm guessing you've heard of Hentai Foundry? What are your opinions on it? I realize you can't submit your game there, but a lot of artists on the site like to use it to build their fanbase and redirect people to their own blogs/websites. It's a really solid place to advertise and commission.

A couple people say "This is disgusting!" and a couple people say "As long as people with these fetishes aren't committing crimes who cares?" etc.

    4. No idea. There are "obscenity" laws in Canada which are very vague, so I don't know how it would turn out, or what charges would possibly be.I think it's less likely since it isn't something sold or distributed physically in Canada, though.

      Delete
    5. "Kreckman",

As someone reasonably educated in US and Canadian legalese, I'd strongly advise you not make a move to break into a broader audience with something containing the explicit material you have in your games. You are likely to face very serious charges if the public opinion turns against you or you make any kind of waves anywhere, or even if a self-righteous small group of people makes a big fuss against you legally. If you're bored and/or paranoid, please look up some courtroom precedents regarding the possession of (or worse, and in your case, creation of) sexually violent materials or media depicting sexual assaults. Although your best defense is, as you have noted, your small audience and relative anonymity, putting your face out there as the creator or producer of material like this and trying to make it more 'mainstream' would be a very dangerous idea for you.

I say this not because your game/s aren't worthy of being sold on their game design, because that's actually why I play your games; they are solid platformers reminiscent of Metroid and Castlevania which I loved. Principally because you may not be aware that a great many people are given jail time and their lives destroyed for much less than what you're doing.

All that said, this is my first post and i've been a silent fan of your game design since Kuro, which was an impressive game and still is. It's good to see you still working and active, and accepting donations/pre-orders.

      All the best,
      -C

    6. Don't worry, I'm well aware of the risks, and that's exactly why I'm so hesitant to do so. I'm also aware of cases in the past. However, the reason why I answer with "I don't know" is because obscenity laws are enforced on a case by case basis.

The only part of Canada obscenity laws that could be applied to my work is the description of "undue exploitation of sex". However, whether that applies during a case is subjective. Precedents state that it should be based on the modern public views, and not people who are of one extreme or the other. Normal people.

How this would be applied to my work is uncertain. My games are by no means violent, so it depends on how rape/sex is interpreted. It's portrayed through low resolution, unrealistic, exaggerated cartoon-like graphics. Many normal people, while they may dismiss it as disgusting or perverted, would not judge such a thing as criminally as say, a 3d game where you beat, and then rape women, with realistic graphics.

To put it another way, while real rape is judged harshly, as it should be, "It's fine as long as it doesn't harm anyone" is a very common stance to take, and I think it would be much easier to defend my games than say, a live action movie.

      Delete
    7. (Very common for average, normal people, I mean.)

    8. Geez, all this talk about legality makes me second guess on making one.

    9. That reminds me of the MASSIVE backlash Rapelay got when it was translated for the west, both h-game fans and normal users were outraged by the game's gameplay and objective. I'm not defending it as I think that game is disgusting, however I can see why people would be interested in a game like it even if it's not my cup of tea. It's just fantasy however people like to get offended by everything over the internet

      Delete
    10. I don't think it's something you need to worry about, honestly. Unless you're making a physical product, generally people aren't going to go after some random person making porn on the internet unless it's something that's CLEARLY illegal.

    11. I'm a big fan of Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Considering this is all fiction and no one was harmed during the making of it. And it's obviously not intended to promote such behavior. It falls squarely under these guidelines in my opinion. And is no worse than any other media available out there.

As long as your honest and open about what you do, I doubt that you have much to fear in terms of an actual conviction if such legal challenges arise.

Not that, that ever stopped some stupid people from trying to make trouble......

    1. I didn't do any tutorials, I never took music classes, and I didn't play any instruments when I started. I more or less just made random stuff here and there, and over time I naturally began to develop as a composer based on the kind of music I liked, which was mostly video game music. So it mostly came down to observation, for me.

    1. If I understand correctly, you're suggesting that players who pre-ordered the game could have the option to play the game early, for the purpose of play-testing / bug testing.

Certainly, it would be an easy benefit to attach to pre-orders, However, players will almost always play a game early, given the choice, even if it means having less fun. I feel like it would be a bit backwards if people who pre-ordered ended up having a sub-optimal experience as a result.

I think I should have 5-10 playtesters, with half of them playing casually, giving feedback, and half of them intentionally trying to break the game. Ideally, the game should be fairly bug-free before it ever reaches someone who paid for it.

      Delete
    2. If someone pre-orders to get early access and allows pirating, won't that hurt non-preorder sales?

      Delete
    3. I mean, by it's nature I'm sure it would have a negative impact. Regardless of the developer's intentions, players don't really appreciate it when they're told "This game is playable. but "you" can't play it". If there's no way for them to get the game legally at the time, and it's available through other means, they'll pirate it. But isn't that understandable?

I don't really think I'd be giving the game out early to people who pre-ordered, regardless. I'm the kind of guy who thinks that everyone should have the same experience, no paid content, no exclusive content, no timed exclusivity, etc.

      Delete
    4. In my experience it's best to play an H game a year after it comes out, because the developer is usually finished adding things. That being said, I wouldn't be able to help myself if Kyrieru put out an unfinished version. I don't have the will power to wait for the final release, even though I know I'd enjoy it more.

      Delete
    5. TBH, any kind of pre-order advantage might hurt the sales anyway. If it's for testing there might be benefit. But a few trusted testers can do a lot already - speaking from experience.

Since it's a hassle to put in DRM to avoid any negative impact from piracy, it probably isn't worth doing any kind of pre-order advantage for people. Might as well release it equally for everyone. And with pre-orders working just as advances or donations atm, I think it reflects well on the community.

    1. A fetish genre of (usually drawn) pornography which depicts a character physically hurt either in a sensual way, or in a sexual situation. Ryona usually has situations where the character of focus is beaten up or tortured and is subsequently psychologically damaged in a dominating way by his or her attacker. Typically, the victim is hurt in a way that wouldn't immediately draw blood, cause lasting physical harm, or cause death, which are more the territory of Guro, although the two genres can overlap.

As far as I understand it, it has quite a range. At its mildest form it's just a "damsel in distress" thing, or can just be about a female character getting her ass kicked in a fighting game. But more extreme versions would have, for example, a bound woman being physically injured (with blood and everything), which indeed crosses the line into guro.

I think most people think the classic image of a beautiful woman in chains with her clothes ripped is pretty sexy. But I also think most, like me, don't find the gratuitous violence attractive at all. Even nonconsensual sex, which many would say is a very violent act, is still essentially more of a sexual act than a violent one. But hurting women for fun isn't sexy; it just looks misogynistic to me.

Then again, people have been found to be aroused by much more unusual things, so who knows. As with everything else, as long as it's fantasy and no one's being hurt, it doesn't really matter what people are into.

    2. Parasite in city and Hounds of the blade have pregnancy in game but it's actually an annoying feature, as it literally STOPS you from fighting from time to time and then when the creature births it's another enemy to kill, which can become a chain reaction if you're unlucky. I'm okay with pregnancy in h-games but I can't see myself enjoying a game fully focused on that fetish :|

      Delete
    3. I think it would be easy to execute without making it too annoying, however it's one of those thing that tends to be on the "I could do this if I have time at the end" list. The problem is that the list is very long, and once I've finished a game, it's difficult to add more content since I'm usually eager to work on the next game.

      You never know, though.

    4. Tripoteur VentripotentNovember 8, 2014 at 1:19 PM

In a sex game, incorporating fetishes into the gameplay makes sense. In Parasite in City, getting assaulted by a monster that gets the girl pregnant results in a few short stuns later on, plus a very long stun and extra monster eventually. The sex isn't just something that happens randomly, it's a consequence of playing badly and affecting the gameplay directly makes it a tangible penalty. One that's more logical than having to start again at a checkpoint or losing coins or whatever penalty these types of games usually impose.

It's easy to imagine a Metroidvania game where fetishes like Breast Expansion and Pregnancy function as "status ailments", reducing your character's abilities while she's being affected. In a normal game, getting hit by a cold-based ability (frost bolt, ice breath, whatever) might slow your character for a few seconds. In a sex game (let's say a fantasy one for this example), maybe enemy wizards fire breast-enlarging blasts of magic and goblins finishing a grapple-type attack get your character pregnant for a short time, limiting character movement in some way or another. Haven't put that much thought into it but you could throw in a bunch of different fetishes in there, with various effects, making sure that nothing gets too annoying too often.

In any case Noaika won't be like this, so no worries here if that's not your thing.

Looking at Kurovadis, Eroico and the Noaika demo, there's usually just one animation involving any specific fetish and there's never any focus on any single one. For a game with sexual content it's surprisingly un-niche (that's a word now, deal with it). That's probably a good thing, since any game that has a huge focus on a particular fetish is likely to only appeal to a vastly more limited percentage of potential players.

      Delete
    5. My games are pretty un-niche because my interests are fairly un-niche. I tend to like a bit of everything, save for the extremes.Of course, ideally I'd be able to spend more time on each fetish and just have more of everything, but H-animations take a lot of time.

That's one of the reasons why I want to try working with 3d in an action game at some point. They make a bit more sense for H-games because you can focus on having more animations, since you're using the same model each time. Plus you can dynamically change them, without the need to change the animation too.

      Delete
    6. TBH, I barely had any fetishes when I started playing H-games. H-games are what gave them to me, pretty much.

      Delete
    7. Well can't make everyone happy unless you run through a giant checklist at the start of the game to confirm/deny the fetishes included and force said monster to not perform it, which wouldn't be a bad idea for people like him (and myself) who would rather stray from impregnation and such. Granted I personally won't knock anyone who enjoys it but certainly not my taste either.

      Delete
    8. If you know my preferences, I don't really like fetishes unless those on the receiving end can be shown to enjoy it to some degree. Like with most hentai, childbirth isn't really portrayed realistically, especially when it's with monsters. The same way rape can go from something horrible and violent to something that's more or less just sex with a pre-tense, pregnancy can go from something extremely painful to a mild inconvenience, or pleasurable for the protsgonist.

Also, in Noaika and future games, I plan on having filters for such fetishes, so you can have a gay ol' time without pregnancy all you like -__-.

      Oooooh, 3D.

I have a preference for 2D (grew up with NES/SNES), but I know it can be more work than 3D nowadays; with 3D you can spend time making a really good-looking model with "articulations" and then use it for everything, which indeed makes it a great investment if you're planning on making lots of animations. And I can't really argue with high amounts of content, even if it's not 2D.

A fetish filter can't hurt. I don't see myself using one much... maybe for vore-ish scenes (I don't like vore, even soft), but everything else in those games was pretty cool fetish-wise. I favor breast enlargement, but I'm a bit into almost everything else too, including monster pregnancy. Aside from very mild vore, the most disturbing fetishes (guro, urine/scat, etc) haven't come up, which I think is nice. Good for sales too, I would imagine, as those things are not just unappealing but actually repulsive for most people, and even a filter might not be enough to make people accept such content being in a game.

In any case I'm looking forward to future games and really glad that one is coming out relatively soon. Eroico set the bar pretty high so I'm actually expecting Noaika to be less good, but still great.

    1. Nope. The number of pre-orders was a fraction of how many sales I usually make upon release (because it's a pre-order), yet with the price option, the amount that people paid was much higher. More people chose the $10 and $20 options than people who paid $5.

Plus, these pre-orders don't really effect DLsite sales, which is where I usually make around 50% of my profits.

    14. How many hours a week do you usually work on games? And what's the % time distribution between animating, programming, music and CG after designing?

      Delete
    15. It's hard to say, honestly. I don't really know what the distribution of time would be. Sometimes I'll work on a game for 3 hours and spend a lot of time being indecisive about something, and other times I'll work pretty much all day. In total, I'd say that CGs and music take the least amount of time, though.

      Delete
    16. Per day, of course. Three-five hours in a week would be kind of pathetic -__-.

      Delete
    17. Ahaha, gotcha. Sounds like designing is unavoidably time consuming. Is it gonna be similar this time, too, for CGs? Or are you gearing toward animating the CGs?

      Delete
    18. Well, with CGs, things are pretty simple. I need to practice for a while to regain even a semblance of competence, but once I do it's just a matter of working on them until I'm done. When I do CGs, the end is usually in sight, so it's much easier to work enthusiastically.

Design/programming can be time consuming because of balancing and testing. I'll decide on a certain design, only to test it and have my doubts. Then I sort of go through the long process of trying to decide if the design works, and I just need to balance something, if I need to add something, or it doesn't work at all and I need to make major changes.

I was checking out new games on DLSite and saw one (called Dark Star, just came out today) that had quite remarkable animations from what I've seen on the dev site, higher-res than Parasite in City. I usually prefer lower-res stuff but these look really good.

They're also much more on the realistic size proportion-wise (though idealized; girl's got long legs and is quite busty), which led me to think about Kurovadis/Eroico/Noaika's protagonists' proportions. Is it just me or do they actually get "chibier" (you're forcing me to make up more words here) with every new game? It strikes me as unusual, but I don't dislike it.

If you eventually switch to 3D, are the characters going to have more realistic proportions or are they still going to be more cartoony? I have a hard time picturing chibi 3D, and realistic 3D is extremely hard to pull off (while still being attractive), so I'm guessing it would be somewhere in the middle, with mildly cartoony 3D?

But I'm in no hurry, like I said I prefer 2D. Just curious about the direction you're going to be taking with your games.

I used to be into super long epic RPGs, but nowadays "erotic Metroidvania" has got to be my favorite genre, next to "action Roguelikes" and real Roguelikes, so whatever you're planning on making is of huge interest to me... especially since it's always really high quality stuff with amazing design.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Eh...The actual animation it's self was actually kind of sub-par, with no in-between animations, and a lot of single frame poses just using bones and deformation. It doesn't really compare to parasite in the city, which had very smooth and extremely well done frame by frame animation. The tilesets and images in Dark Star "looked" nice, though. I suppose you could say it's more or less like a series of animated CGs in-game. Even though it wasn't really for me, it was still commendable.

In terms of proportions, if you look at most of the games I didn't release, the sprite size varies quite a bit. It just so happened that the head sizes ended up that way with Noaika. It's also a bit more chibi-ish since like many other games it began as a small project.

If I made 3d games, the characters would be somewhere between megaman legends and Kingdom Hearts. I wouldn't really be going for realism, and it would be more stylized, focusing less on realistic effects, and more on hand-drawn textures.

I plan on making a rogue-lite (as many call them) at some point. I think it's a very fitting genre for H-games, since unlike most games there are real consequences for failure, which may make make certain H oriented choices relevant beyond choosing them to see a sex scene, only to re-load a save and move on.

      Delete
  53. Tripoteur VentripotentNovember 15, 2014 at 11:00 PM

Oh yes, the animations themselves weren't smooth, it's just that they were just much higher-res than what I'm used to. Sorry if I didn't express that correctly; I have zero art background so it doesn't come easily to me. Plus I don't even really speak English, I'm pretty much faking all of this text.

I seem to recall the blue-haired character in your semirecent fantasyish game project was a bit more realistically proportioned, but again, my brain doesn't usually notice these things. I'd have to go back and take another look.

That kind of 3D sounds good to me. Not too hard to make (gotta think about efficiency), visually pleasant, no chance of the characters accidentally looking creepy. Optimal, really.

That last paragraph has me drooling all over myself. Very much looking forward to it. I thought Rogue Legacy was just OK, but I loved Magicite and I think this genre has loads of potential, and replay value as well (thanks not only to difficulty, but to challenges/unlocks too). H content is a sweet, sweet bonus, and indeed very fitting.

    Thanks!

As for fetishes, age regression is possible, but not with H-scenes because of laws where I live. As for pretty much anything related to pregnancy, it's a fetish I'm fine with, so there may be such things. (Though I'll probably never show human babies being born)

    2. That sounds cool, a little gallery on the side for concept art sounds great. By the way I forgot to mention, the seemingly corruption(?) heroine system you got going for Noaika is really good as far as a fan favorite fetish goes. I love it <3

That's strange. I *ahem* know of a few people based in Canada that, in the 4 years so far, have yet to be witch hunted (Assuming you're based in Canada). Then again, since the content in question will be forever in the gray area I can understand your fear. Quite the sad, sad day for lolicons and pettanko lovers everywhere...

    3. The only law here in Canada that could even have a half chance at convicting you is the "corruption of public morals" law, and it's very concept is so outdated and retarded it's hard not to laugh at it.

However I understand your concerns. We have quite a few nanny nincompoops here that would lynch you like a baby killer just because you said something that they don't like. And would justify their actions just on popular belief only.

It would be so nice to have more "Asian" laws when it came to artwork and fictional creations.

  56. Hey its good if you are repetitive because then the more subscribe about egg laying and pregnancy the higher the possibility that it will get made ^^

  57. Hey Kyrieru, have you played Bleed? It's a short action-platformer with really fun bullet-time and airdashing mechanics. Your score in each stage gives you credits to buy new weapons and upgrades, and there's lots of other stuff to encourage replays of old levels. I just heard the dev is working on a sequel, and I remembered that this was one of my favorite PC sidescrollers.

  58. This game has taken so long... Just how much are you working on really? I can't help but feel like you're not even trying. I'm only speaking for myself. I love the quality of your work, but you do not work efficiently.

    1. If you've ever worked on a game, especially one where you're doing your own graphics and animation, You'd know it takes for freaking ever. This can be mitigated by having low standards, but then nobody's happy, especially not Ky. Also, let's not forget how difficult it is to maintain your motivation and focus when you're working on a long-term project.

I don't mean to berate you, Anon, I just don't appreciate it when people complain about high quality work taking a long time. :<

    2. It's ridiculously tough to stay motivated in a solo project. ;_____;

    3. March 2014 is the first time we saw any trace of Noaika. It's been 8 months now. I understand his work can take long, but maybe smaller games would work out better. March!!

    4. 8 months is nothing, on average projects like these could take over a year to finish.
