Shallow experience for full experience? Hmm..

Well, some of you called it, but I'm going to put off releasing a demo until next week.

The entire reason I set a deadline in the first place was so that I could work faster, and I succeeded in that regard. I'll keep this pace, and ideally the demo next week will be closer or identical to what you'll expect from the full game, rather than just a teaser.

I know this may disappoint some of you or diminish your impression of me as a developer, but honestly, I think your first impressions of the complete experience are more important than being held over for a week or me going "Yay, I did it".

So, see you next week -__-

I'll be posting a daily work log that lists everything I did for the day until then.

  2. Oh no, we have to wait a week to have a more complete experience instead of getting a lesser experience today. If that wasn't obvious enough; don't worry bro, do what you think is best for the game, not making random people on the internet happy.

  3. I say we should just put a 24/7 livestream as a consequence if it doesn't get here in time. ;)

    1. Livestreams make me work slower -__-

    2. Which is why it will be 24/7. After the first week you'll mentally block us out. ;)

  4. I'd rather wait for something you're proud of, then get something you'd rather not release. A daily post will make me all the happier to wait, since I love watching your progress, :P.

  5. Although I'm an asshole for saying this, pornographic game developers have such a low reputation, even still posting blog posts is good enough as compared to when they stop posting and suddenly die.

As long as you don't pull a "I have to leave and abandon all my work so far due to real life issues/family friends not getting enough love from me/emotional insecurities!" and drop off the map entirely, it's fine.

  6. Seriously spoken: I liked your last two games pretty much, because of the stile you managed to build in. These games took time to develop as every good title needs time to ripe. (Even if there are bad examples out there for to much development time with no result.) Same goes for your next peace. Good games need quite a lot of work and attention. That same thing also counts for demos, trailers or other presentations such as open or closed betas and so on. So I back up Orexius post and say: I rather see something you can really say: "This is what my game will look like if it's done.", then see something you managed to staple together real fast. So I'm looking forward to it and gladly wait for something you can present in all conscience.

  7. Yup take it easy. Don't put to much pressure on yourself.
The Sun will rise again, with or without a demo.

  11. Have you ever actually considered putting a daily "I did ____" on here every day? I know it can be a challenge to actually do. But it's an amazing way to keep yourself working. It works for me at least, maybe it'll work for you too?

  12. I am disappointed but this has not diminish my impressions of you as a developer~

  13. Hehehe that's what you get when you schedule a deadline it makes you stress, no need to rush things pops. take it easy.

    1. The deadline didn't cause me any stress, it just made me work harder.

And working hard is not the same as being over-worked.

  14. People would be a fool to think less of you for wanting to make a complete demo rather than a shotty demo that wouldn't feel complete or polished. Keep doing what you do Kyrieru :)

  15. Maybe you could make another dynamic "todo list"? It was a big pleasure to watch detailed progress.

  16. 'Created basis for x-ray' Kyrieru, does that mean what I think it means? because I love x-ray view.

  17. Son, I'm still proud

  18. I know a lot of people love x-ray views, but will there be an option to turn it off? It always weirded me out in games for some reason, so I prefer not seeing them ^^'

  19. X-Ray...
Not sure what that is going to be in the end... >.>
