Nagai Yamiji

A developer named Kajio completed an action H-game he was working on, so check it out if you haven't already.
http://hkajio.blogspot.ca/p/nagai-yamiji.html

Support him if you can, because the more developers working on games full time, the better.

As for my progress, things are going a bit slow. I'm still running into the same ruts I run into whenever there's story or plot involved (too many ideas), but I'll get through it. I'll try to have a demo out in a month or two, at the very least.

I'll have a bit more to say next time, when I've progressed a it further.

  1. Looking at the screenshots, the environment reminds me a lot of Terraria...
Not that that's a bad thing, I'll be sure to check it out when I get time~

    1. I love Terraria... I've lost too many hours of my life to that game XD I didn't consciously draw from Terraria, but it certainly may have influenced me

    2. Well, I've only gotten a little time to play through it, but so far the game is great! Having configurable controls really makes a difference with platforming for me...and all the movement and such is nice and smooth.
Even if it wasn't...well, what it is, it's great just for the gameplay.
Though I noticed the similarities between it and Kuro too, hehe...

Looks like I've got another developer to watch!

    3. This is when I mention something about Starbound.

    4. Well I'm glad you enjoyed the game :) I didn't think configurable controls would be that important but I'm glad I put them in now XD

I haven't heard of Starbound. I'll have to check it out.

    5. Found the early secret room xD Was wondering what would happen if I went that way...

    6. Sort of like a 2D Minecraft, but with a lot more focus on adventuring and fighting.

    1. Also the status screen, the rolling mechanic, and the way you strafe when you shoot are pretty much...

    2. one thing is different, cant press down key to roll so I keep messing that up

    3. I won't lie, I draw a lot of inspiration from Kyrieu :P I can only hope to have half as successful. I do have plans for a second game that'll be more unique

  3. lol this guy didnt even bother uploading it on dlsite (at least there's no link on his website). keep the sales simple and clean, i like this guy already.

(i personally f***king dislike DLsite's stupid royalty and slow dodgy processing... i hate people in the middle taking all the cash, GLORIOUS NIHONJIN BANJAI!)

    1. Well I do plan on putting the game on DLSite later, it's just a matter of waiting for approval. Unfortunately DLSite just gives me access to a much larger audience that I can't really ignore.

Hopefully people will see they can buy it for cheaper from my blog :P

    1. Best response =D

Curiously, does story suggest dialogue, or more just the order of progression of areas?

I may be a fooge, but I don't think I've seen any dialogue by you before. Probably I've missed something somewhere though.

    2. I think dialogue and a plot will make this game amazing. I really like your past games, but they were always lacking something for me. With brilliant gameplay and a dialogue driven plot, this game will be awesome!

  5. Aww, no more daily art. Well, looking forward to your next post.

  6. Man that was bad, sub par controls and awkward as crap soundtrack
the platforming wasn't bad and reminded me of kurovadis, which is a good thing but the combat wasn't fun and i just ended up skipping it when it wasn't necessary.

also the tree hit combo was useless, most of the time you'd hit the enemy out of the third and more powerful strike.

    1. Well I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it that much. Hopefully my next game will be more enjoyable for you, since I plan to focus more on polishing the combat.

  7. I am stuck at the big spider boss. It must have a million hit points cause it just won't die. Am I missing something or do I just need to hit it more?

    Thanks

    1. I've nerfed the King Spider in the latest update :P It was pretty hard before

    2. currently, i'm stuck on him too, but, i'm just gonna try to levelgrind until i have enough hitpoints to just ignore the little shits he spawns.

    3. okay, past that, at the totem guardians, as i've taken to calling those creepy fuckers, how in the seven hells am I supposed to get past them if they blind me like that? i honestly cannot get any length of distance past them before i feel like i'm trying to wade through a solid wall of darkness, and for that matter, are they even killable?

  8. What's up with H-game platformers and awkward jumping puzzles?

I had to sit the game down for a bit after getting stuck under this longass walljump section with two timed lasers at the top.

    1. I got stuck on that part as well for a long time. It was pretty infuriating for a long time but I finally got past it. Worst part is once you get to the top of that section there's no immediate save point.

The game gets even wackier: when I was in the attic section a screen transition put me out of bounds and I got completely lost on the outside of the play area until I fell into a save room. I think I completely skipped the attic boss.

    2. That section with the two lasers is supposed to be a hint that it would be easier to go around the other way :P

And yeah, the screen transition Anon2 mentioned has been fixed in the most recent versions.

  9. game definitely has something going for it, although i found some parts awkward. some of the walljumping sections were just flat out cruel, more or less due to the lack of a close save point and the pointlessless of trying to salvage health from enemies.

the combat could use more polish... the little slime's hitbox is so tiny some melee attacks don't even hit them, which is silly, although i quickly found that magic made melee redundant. will definitely consider getting the full version some time now that i've beaten the demo.

    1. Yeah, I've gotten a lot of comments about the wall jumping being rather difficult :P The game is intentionally hard, though.

The combat was definitely not the focus for this game, it was the platforming. My next game I plan to make more combat-heavy

  10. Hey this game looks pretty kool, will it be put up on the english DLsite?

    1. It should be on the English site in a week or two. It takes longer to get on the English site for some reason :\

  11. Hey Kyrieru, would you consider doing a foot job animation? I am slightly embarrassed to admit I'm attracted to your sprites feet. If that's not your thing I understand. I would personally think it would be a bit hard to sprite a foot job anyways lol.

  12. Don't know if you got the email or nott but apparently blogspot is saying no to adult content (According to dirtyc101 with screen shot) So you may have to watch out for that would be a shame to see your site get shut down i love your work.

    1. They are apparently okay with adult content still, just not blogs who make their money through ads. Kyrieru and any other devs you follow should be fine :)

  13. By the way when will you make a demo of your next game Kiry ?? >^.^<

    1. Well, eventually. I want the game to be done before the end of the year, so that's all I can really say.

  14. Also by the way, how does one pronounce your name?

    1. Kee-lee-eh-luu

You roll the r's the same way you would with the phrase "Kyrie", which is a greek phrase used in a lot in choral music. For instance,

  15. You, sir, have good names. All original, all "nameish", all on a similar sound.

A good name is important, and really hard to come up with.

    1. Secret to unique names - searching words relevant to your game in google translate, and then combining or changing the results until they yield no results in google searches.

Kurovadis = Good name with actual meaning. No results.
Erocio = Not so great. Common word and many results.
