Alright, it's getting to the point where I'm being held back by indecision and procrastination, so it's time to try and apply some pressure to myself.
Let's say...that I need to release a demo within a week or earlier. It probably won't be the same as the demo you'll see when the full game is done, but it'll be something. If it isn't the same as the full demo, I'll update it every five days or so.
So, yeah.

Would having a vote box up help at all? Like ideas or such your unsure of to add or what method to do something in, perhaps seeing which people are more in favor for would help?
ОтветитьУдалитьI'm on with releasing an unfinished demo and then updating it from time to time. Many devs do that and it helps you see your progress clearer as you can get feedback from players earlier. I can't say much about lazyness as I suffer the same sin when it comes to doing anything.
ОтветитьУдалитьYou need to stream more often.
ОтветитьУдалитьIt's about time to get serious isn't it You lazy bum?
ОтветитьУдалитьGood thing You figure it out now
My opinion of You just now +1
Maybe you don't need any advice after successfully releasing two great games, but here are my tips for getting projects done:
ОтветитьУдалить1. Always know the next step to take very specifically. Indecision about what to do next can make it very hard to get started. Tell yourself something like "the next time I work on my project, I'm going to animate the sprite for the third boss." Also, don't leave something extremely challenging as your starting task for your next session: make it something simple to ease your way in.
2. Work on the project every day, even if you only plan to do a little. I often tell myself I'm just going to work for 15 minutes. Sometimes I really do quit after 15, but usually I'm much more motivated once I've gotten started that I work significantly longer. Those short periods of time do add up, too. Most projects fail when people go weeks/months with no progress and either get discouraged or too embarrassed to admit it. If you make a habit of working every day, you won't fail like that.
Unfortunately this doesn't help you any with project planning. I don't do game design, but I do know that you need to prototype early and playtest often. If your game sucks, find out asap instead of finishing the game and trying to polish a turd. Once you've got solid gameplay, go with it and stop second-guessing yourself.
I usually just start making random assets (mainly in art), even if they aren't relevant to the current project.
ОтветитьУдалитьWhen your in an indecisive state of mind it helps to clear the air and do something that's a little more instantly rewarding that you know your way around.
Mind you that doesn't help you finish the current project any faster ^_^;
You could work slowly on CG's I guess, gives you time to reflect on how you want to present your game and lets you build up some stuff to further enhance it.
I'm looking forward to this. Some feedback by players might help push your motivation.
ОтветитьУдалитьThat's the Spirit!!!
ОтветитьУдалитьlooking forward to it. people update demos all the time, so don't worry about it. hell, people sell their games while theyre only half finished nowadays!
ОтветитьУдалитьYes! Yes, thank you! You are awesome!
ОтветитьУдалитьDo you have the compiler add-on? The one that gives significant performance gains?
ОтветитьУдалитьNo, because I started before it came out, and I avoid switching version during development. I'll be using the latest version once I start my next game.
УдалитьThe compiler add-on only changes the resulting executable. The project itself is unchanged.
УдалитьYou can do it procrastination happens to everyone just gotta push through it sir
ОтветитьУдалитьMaking weekly updates is a really good plan! If you are like me, you will always try to do everytging at the sixth day. But that's not bad, since some peolpe can ONLY work when they are under pressure.
ОтветитьУдалитьJust take my money! D:<
ОтветитьУдалитьLol, take your time. Can't wait to see!
Don't take your time, hurry up! Just kidding, kind of. X'D
ОтветитьУдалить*chanting begins* de.. de... dem... demo! demo! demo! go, go, go! demo! demo! demo!! :D
ОтветитьУдалитьGettin' all jittery with excitement. Checking back every morning, in case you post while I'm sleeping, right before sleep, in case you work a late night to push it out, after work because it's been a whole twelve hours since my last check, and after all my household crap is done, in case you have an early evening post =D
УдалитьIts my birthday on Feb 28 so could you please release a small demo or something. I've bought all your games c:
ОтветитьУдалитьKeep up the good work.
Hey dude, Z-fied has opened a forum requesting help without commitment. I dunno how your workload is and stuff but I bet you guys would be an awesome collab team.
ОтветитьУдалитьHelp without commitment sounds like fun, could you perhaps provide more info on Z -field? I've never heard that name (group?) until today.

УдалитьHe's made an ACT Resident Evil fan made hentai game and his sprite artist just recently announced hes decided to discontinue work. Seems like a non-profit game so far but the gameplay/pr0n is pretty interesting.
That's not a bad idea at all. I'm sure there're fans among your followers that could help you in things like UI graphics, programming, etc.
УдалитьPLEASE DONT BE LAZY KYRIERU D':
ОтветитьУдалитьNooo. Be lazy. Be as lazy as long as you like... >:)
