Maybe I'll even learn something about pixel art just from observing you and analyzing, since these animations give me more insight than just seeing the finished product in the games :D

Couldn't the glasses work with shades lighter than the outline of the eye, so the viewer will sort of connect the dots in their mind for these fine details instead of a thick frame? Hmmm. Not sure. In your previous image it looks perfectly fine, but that is from a further distance. The also lenses do look a bit larger.

Now that I look at it more closely, it seems to me like during the climax part, the glasses do look a bit off model - seems like the lenses are in some strange angle and a bit further apart than normal - literally sticking to her skin which would be impossible with such large round glasses.

Maybe you could make it so that during the climax the glasses slide down her nose :D

Wouldn't a darker bg color also help? The skin color doesn't have enough contrast with the bg in my opinion.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-35176421849308438182015-11-02T18:18:22.023-04:002015-11-02T18:18:22.023-04:00The detailed one isn't too detailed to animate...The detailed one isn't too detailed to animate, per-se, but I found myself discouraged from redrawing stuff because I started with a lot of detail, rather than starting simple and adding the detail a step at a time once all the frames were done. It was also when I was trying to animate with a million layers, so the problem was more with the method than the style. I could probably animate like that eventually and have no trouble.

The problem with the face comes down to two factors. The first is that she's wearing glasses that are about the same size as her eyes, and so the changes in expression aren't as striking. The second is that I used skin color to shade the eyes (as I often do), but because of the glasses, it sometimes creates the illusion that it's skin, and not the eye. That's why in the climax part, one might think she's squinting when really she's wide eyed.

Not sure what I'll do. about the bulge yet. I'll probably try and add shadows instead of just a line.

She should have tentacles to hold her legs.

Leg spreading would be nice, but it would also be more unique frames. I'll be including more "stages" of the animations as I get faster at it, but for now this one will probably stay the length that it is.Kyrieruhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17876819587515800795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-82817167048839634902015-11-02T15:42:10.011-04:002015-11-02T15:42:10.011-04:00Too bad you had troubles with this one. Don't ...Too bad you had troubles with this one. Don't know what else to say and not sound as Captain Obvious to you, or as someone who is just praising you with no helpful critical thinking, or the opposite, an entitled asshole :D

I'll just write whatever comes to mind about the animation since you wrote that you want to touch it up a bit. Hope it doesn't sound I'd trying to bully you into making changes. Also hope the previous sentence doesn't make me sound like a spineless pussy :D Whatever... :D

The frame of the previous attempt has awesome detail IMO, but yeah, maybe too much detail to animate. The style of the animation is a little too simplistic, and I don't know how to put it, also feels like it has a bit less of an impact, feels less physical or something, for example the stomach bulge is barely visible. Maybe I'm wrong, but maybe it's also something to do with the face, I don't notice the changes in expression too much. So, maybe some middle ground with lines where necessary? Maybe that is why some people feel it looks unfinished.

Also as someone already mentioned, I'd expect tentacles to hold her legs forced spread like that. Some little leg-spreading/penetrating animation at the beginning would also be nice, even if not in this one but maybe in the future in some in-game animations. :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-2269939619392030112015-11-02T03:01:27.011-04:002015-11-02T03:01:27.011-04:00@EgoAnon:

I never said that doing a full outline image...@DF:

I never said that doing a full outline image would be too much trouble, I said that a style without lines is easier, and so it’s what I wanted to start with in order to ease myself into a type of animation I have less experience with.

It came off as odd for you to explain what I could do, because I have plenty of examples of animation on this blog that show what I know how to do, or what I could have done differently had I chose to. I also included a style test a few posts back where I talk about using a simple style, mentioning the lack of lines, with one of the examples being exactly what you suggested
https://i.gyazo.com/ead9d1f696968c4fbcdb4dccc1f5077a.png

As for why I didn’t do it; it was a matter of time. I didn’t spend a month on this animation, I spent 8-12 hours (I don't know how many exactly) over the course of a week. This was the fourth time I had attempted an animation of Fio, with previous attempts leaving me unsatisfied with the result/and or method. So, I decided to keep it simple and focus on the things that were giving me trouble, which meant a nude, lineless style. I also promised that I’d have at least one animation out by the end of the month, so I wanted to meet that deadline even if it was something I’d change later. Not to mention there’s also the fact that having the animation out by the end of the day meant not going further into debt, since it meant I’d get paid tomorrow as opposed to next month. (And no, that’s not the main reason I did it, since if I cared more about money I’d just release all the animations in a week)

If by defensive you mean refuting points, then yeah. People like saying I act a certain way without giving me any examples, so it gets on my nerves after a while. It’s like when someone says “You disagree with everything”, to which you logically respond “No I don’t”, and they say “See! Did it again!”. Generally I only get defensive when people start making insane claims, but in your case I wasn’t being reasonable which is why I immediately apologized.

As for the style and everything; like I’ve said in the past, I plan on adding more detail the better I get at this type of animation. However, it’s also a possibility that I might still do this sort of style when I’m putting more time into something else, such as including more than one character. The faster I get, the more detail I’ll include in the style.Kyrieruhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17876819587515800795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-92116252005971736222015-11-02T02:07:21.584-04:002015-11-02T02:07:21.584-04:00As I said, you are free to leave it. I'm probably just reading too much into it, so I apologize for that, different people take things different ways.

I didn't make any assumptions about your life either, though I'm not sure that one was aimed at me. I was referring to some comments (rather than posts, sorry) in the past I remember specifically, but there is no way I am going to dig through a ton of posts to find them.

That said people generally don't snap at others when they simply think a statement is odd, so that is why I assumed he hurt your ego or offended you in some way. I was mistaken it seems. I apologize fully.

I'm just some guy on the other side of the Internet, an anon no less, I'm not trying to win any arguments (not that you said I was). The reason I say that is because I am not interested in arguing, the only reason I posted was because I admired you and your work, and it seemed sad to see you getting so defensive towards things. I could explain and nitpick further, but I think I can speak for us both in saying that wouldn't do either of us any good. Best of luck to you! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-24139284921849255492015-11-02T01:43:32.249-04:002015-11-02T01:43:32.249-04:00Draw-fag here again.

You said that doing a full outline drawing would be too much trouble, so I was offering you another solution that would make the art look a good deal better and finished with an extremely small amount of work compared to the work you've already done on it, and went so far as to try it out myself to see how it would look before suggesting it to you. I don't agree with how the other anon phrased things, but I think he's right that you come off as defensive a lot of the time. I don't really blame you, since you get a lot of unwarranted shit from a lot of different assholes on here, but I wasn't trying to put down your work or anything when I made my suggestion. Like I said, the animation and drawing are both great. Thanks for the apology, I appreciate it.

You also said the suggestion was obvious to you, but if it was obvious, then I don't know why you wouldn't do it. It would take literally an hour or less of work from you, for an animation people expected like a month and a half ago. You miss almost every deadline you set, but now you're saying you couldn't have submitted this animation a half hour late to clean it up a little more. It doesn't really make a lot of sense, sorry.

Aaaaaanyway. I didn't mean to insult you or your work or anything like that. Was just trying to give you a compromise between spending ten hours trying to outline everything perfectly, and what you currently have, which looks unfinished compared to the older stuff you were putting out.

Cheers, Kyrieru. o/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-70966920675761252382015-11-02T01:00:18.162-04:002015-11-02T01:00:18.162-04:00No offence, but learn to come off as a little less...No offence, but learn to come off as a little less condescending when you're trying to give someone advice. Saying something like "get you're little ego bruised :) " is just asking for the other person to get defensive and ignore whatever point you were trying to make. You completely undermine your ability to sway the other person.

That aside, What posts, exactly? I'm not one to pat myself on the back, and aside from assumptions about my life I generally agree with most criticism. Honestly, let me know because I have no idea what kind of posts you'd be talking about.

That aside-aside; the guy didn't hurt my ego, it was just a little odd to have someone explain what I "could" do, when it should be pretty obvious that I know what I could do. Likewise, it was a little odd for you to explain his point and say I shouldn't be so defensive, when I JUST apologized for being defensive and said I understood his point a moment earlier.Kyrieruhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17876819587515800795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-45343103255555320942015-11-02T00:09:44.330-04:002015-11-02T00:09:44.330-04:00I wasn't trying to admonish you about being de...I wasn't trying to admonish you about being defensive. Again though, I only spent ten minutes doing this. I did five frames out of ten. You could spend just one more hour on this animation, and it'd end up much, much better looking. You don't need to do full pixel-perfect outlines - just deeper shadows where they're needed to break up the forms better. Maybe take an extra ten minutes and add some cute spot highlights somewhere. Just seems a shame to do 90% of the work to reach only half of the animation's potential, hahah. =PAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150748600895135243.post-29235125448721462042015-11-01T18:58:08.256-04:002015-11-01T18:58:08.256-04:00Animation is nice.
